Arto Yuzbasiyan arrived in Canada in 1973 from Istanbul. His diverse, multi-cultural background, acquired from working in international centres such as New York, Paris, Montreal, Quebec City and finally Toronto have given him a unique perspective on the urban landscape.
Now in his 50's Arto Yuzbasiyan loves to study the composition of the landscape; the structures, the streets, the sounds and the people, and to depict what he views in a combined impressionism/realism style. His earlier commercial painting, with which he supported himself, helped him to develop this style.
As an urban landscape artist, he enjoys the challenge of illustrating the uniqueness of everyday life and the vitality exuded in the various communities of Toronto. "There is always something interesting happening."
