LEICA IIIA (MODEL G) MONTÉ EN SARRE SHARKSKIN SM CAMERA SN.359997 RARE WOW!
-Extremely late series MONTE EN SARRE
-Monté en Sarre example; same as the Leica III, but has a faster shutter speed - 1/1000 sec
-'Monté en Sarre' is engraved on the top plate
-Manufactured in Saarland (German territory occupied by France at the time of 1949-1951).
-Desirable version with the sharkskin leatherette; will never dry out and crack unlike the standard vulcanite leatherette that was featured on nearly all other Leica camera bodies at the time
-Rare example; only 500 or so ever made ( production # are not known exactly but they did start at camera # 359000 onward ) A rare GENUINE example with the proper characteristics.
- In the last 20 years, this is only the 3rd time I have had the pleasure of owning one of these cameras and the value continues to rise. A great post-wartime historical camera.
-Shutter speed B, 1" - 1/1000
-Sharkskin leatherette version
-Cat No. AGNOO
-No major marks or signs of heavy abuse
-Shows some wear but obvious from a wartime camera
-Some bright marks on top plate
-Leatherette is all intact
-Small impression just right of the MONTE EN SARRE ( right of the shoe )
-Shutter speeds are accurate
-All other camera functions are working normally
-Rangefinder and viewfinder are bright and clean
This is a RARE post-wartime camera with a great history. Not many of these cameras were made
